Principal Welcome Week 2 Term 2 2021

Firstly, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the students, staff and community for a warm and genuine welcome to Scaddan. I feel very grateful to be leading such an incredible school.

One thing that has stood out to me so far this term is the incredible independence and confidence of our students. Watching the juniors hop off the bus, organise themselves for the day and play so beautifully together is remarkable. Similarly, I love the way the seniors lead our school, mentor and care for our younger students. The autonomy and skills they are building will put them in great stead for their high school years ahead.

Congratulations to all of our students and staff for their positive return to school. It was wonderful to see smiling faces and classes quickly settling into their routines. Term 2 provides a fantastic opportunity for students to really challenge themselves and be challenged academically to progress in their learning as they are now familiar with all of the routines and expectations.

I believe positive relationships are at the core of school improvement and progressing student outcomes. I look forward to building a mutually supportive, collaborative and trusting relationship with the Scaddan community. Thank you to the AMAZING parents I have already had the opportunity of meeting.

Attendance Matters

As a school, we are required to work towards improving the attendance of our students.

There are a so many important reasons why your child needs to attend school regularly.  By regularly, we mean above 90% of the time (no more than five absent days per term). The Esperance Region is working hard to ensure that our students attend school.  If as a school, we can aspire to reach 92 - 93%, then we will be really helping our students to reach their full potential.

Of course there are always exceptions to this when children need to take time off school for perfectly acceptable reasons.

What should I do if my child is away from school?

  • Please let the school know at the earliest convenience, either by phone or email.
  • If your child is going to be away for more than three days, please let the school know by phone or email.
  • Send a note with your child to explain why your child was away.

Influenza Vaccination Program for Primary School Aged Children

This year, the Department of Health WA has provided funding for all primary school children to receive a free influenza vaccine.
