Term 2 Reflection
Wow! What an incredible term of learning we have had. We started the term commemorating Anzac Day with pride and respect. This was the first time I really saw the positive impact of the beautiful Scaddan community and got to meet many of our amazing parents. Before we knew it, Mr NAPLAN paid our Year 3 and 5 students a visit. In the end, they had nothing to worry about because they all did a fantastic job and demonstrated excellence along the way. It was full steam ahead as seeding continued and I am sure many of our families were under the pump during this time. We have since celebrated the joys of winter sport, certificate winners, Kalgoorlie Camp, excursions, incursions, dress up days and all round learning and friendship. I congratulate and thank the students, staff and of course families on their mammoth effort in getting to Week 11 successfully. It is proof that when we all come together the magic can happen.
Principal Position
It is my greatest pleasure to announce Lynley Neill as the recommended applicant for the permanent principal position at Scaddan Primary School. Lynley is an outstanding leader with a wealth of knowledge in education in the Esperance region and also on a system level. She has been a key driver in the Mallee schools network as the principal of Munglinup Primary School. We will welcome Lynley to our amazing school tomorrow morning as we complete the principal handover to ensure our school improvement trajectory continues strong. Thank you for your patience, kindness and understanding in waiting for this news.
As I have previously said, being the principal of Scaddan Primary School this term has been an absolute privilege and an experience I will hold closely for many years to come. This school is a true credit to the incredible students, staff, parents and wider community surrounding it. Thank you always for your support.
I wish everyone a safe, relaxing and well-deserved school holidays.
Kind regards,
Ashleigh Dixon

Goodbye Mrs Crawford
It will be a sad moment for everyone at Scaddan Primary School tomorrow. This will be Mrs Crawford’s last day with us as she takes 12-months leave to embark on a new and exciting journey. Mrs Crawford has been an incredible contributor to Scaddan Primary School and has impacted the lives of many students, both past and present. We thank Mrs Crawford for what she has done for the school and know she will be truly missed.
Thank you for our very special Bean Break van visit today. The students loved their hot chocolates and the staff equally enjoyed their delicious coffee. You have made our Week 11!
Kalgoorlie Camp
This week our Year 5 students and Mr Paterson returned from Kalgoorlie Camp. They shared with us some exciting stories about their experience. From all reports, it was a fantastic time! Caitlyn and Charlie, we thank you for the way you represented your school and families with such pride. You are both outstanding role models for Scaddan Primary School. Thank you to Mr Paterson, who committed his own time to ensure this camp was not only possible but a huge success.
COVID
As a school we are mindful of the unfolding COVID situation in the Perth/Peel region at the moment. Should there be any changes over the school holidays, this will be communicated to parents directly via email.
Student Reports
Student reports will be sent home with students today (P-5) and tomorrow (K). It made me so proud to read of all the amazing progress and achievements students have made this semester. It is amazing to see the quality of teaching and learning that occurs at Scaddan Primary School.
From the Scaddan P&C
A farewell afternoon tea has been organised by the P&C for Mrs Crawford and Miss Dixon. It will be held on Thursday at 2:30pm in the Library and all are welcome. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact Emily Aarts.
Free Dress and Rewards Day
A reminder that as part of our Whole School Reward students will be invited to to come to school in free dress this Friday. They will also take part in some fun games and activities throughout the day. Congratulations to the students on earning this reward.
NAIDOC Week Excursion
To celebrate NAIDOC week, an excursion has been organised for all Mallee Schools. The Tjaltjraak Rangers will be running three different cultural activities at Cape Le Grand National Park. Held on Monday 26th July 2021 (Week 2, Term 3). This is a fantastic learning opportunity for our school and something that will contribute to our culturally responsive journey as a community. The invite will be extended to our parents to attend with students. Please keep an eye out later this week for further information coming home.

As a school, we are required to work towards improving the attendance of our students.
There are a so many important reasons why your child needs to attend school regularly. By regularly, we mean above 90% of the time (no more than five absent days per term). The Esperance Region is working hard to ensure that our students attend school. If as a school, we can aspire to reach 92 - 93%, then we will be really helping our students to reach their full potential.
Of course there are always exceptions to this when children need to take time off school for perfectly acceptable reasons.
What should I do if my child is away from school?
