We are over half way through the term already!
Staff and students who are feeling unwell
School staff and students continue to maintain good behaviours to prevent the spread of germs. Students and staff should not attend school if unwell.
Swim Week
Next week there will be further information going home to families in preparation for Swim Week in Week 10. Please contact the school if you have any further questions.
Bushfire Plan
In readiness for each bushfire season, we review and update the Standalone Bushfire Plan which includes the latest advice from DFES. An updated Scaddan Primary School Bushfire Emergency Response Plan will be sent home with your child next week.
Senior Room Assembly
Congratulations to the Senior Room and Mr Paterson on a very entertaining item. Your robots were very well designed and coded. The whole school song conducted by Mrs Bouckaert was beautiful. It was great to see so many families attend and spend time in the classrooms sharing in their child’s learning.
The overall achievement of WA students in the NAPLAN tests continues to be stable.
2021 results were close to, or not statistically significantly different from 2019.
The mean scores for Western Australian students in 2021 are above those achieved in the base year (2008 for all assessments, except writing for which the base year is 2011) in 13 of the 20 assessments, which is the highest number of improved mean scores of any state.
Areas of improvement since the base year are:
o Year 3 – Reading, Writing, Spelling and Grammar and Punctuation;
o Year 5 – Reading, Spelling and Numeracy;
We are waiting for individual school data.
For consistently demonstrating the values of Excellence and Nurturing inside our classroom. You approach all set tasks with a positive attitude and are always willing to offer support to your peers. Keep it up, Kiana!
Reasons we Love SAKG.
We learn about how to help our planet.
We learn how to take care of things.
We grow our own food all by ourselves and it taste amazing!
Science Week
Last week the students enjoyed Science Week. Marie Curie (Miss Hatton) and Beatrice Shilling (Mrs Bouckaert) visited the students, introducing themselves and sharing their famous achievements. The students had a fun Science afternoon making DNA, molecules, a Mars rover, and building soil layers.
ECE Day
It was great to see our families enjoy the ECE open classroom last Thursday. The Kindy and Pre-Primary students enjoyed sharing their learning space with their younger friends.
Thank you to our families who have enrolled for Kindergarten in 2022. If you have not done so already, please ensure your enrolment forms are returned to school.
CST Filming
On Tuesday, School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) will be visiting Scaddan Primary School as part of Mrs Bouckaert’s Curriculum Support Teacher (CST) role. Mrs Bouckaert will be filmed teaching and demonstrating best practice in a Multi Age Group (MAG) classroom. Mrs Bouckaert is supporting teachers across the state via WebEx twice a month. She is currently running 2 sessions: CST Differentiated Curriculum K-6 Planning and Teaching in a MAGs classroom and CST Differentiated Curriculum K-6 Assessment in a MAGs classroom. Mrs Bouckaert’s sessions are proving very popular with her first session booked for 70 participants from across the state. We are fortunate to have an expert teacher from our school who not only supports our staff and teaches our students but is genuinely valued across the state.
SIDE will also be filming the Senior Room’s French lesson. Thank you for returning your child’s consent forms.
Junior Room Father’s Day - Thursday 2nd September
An invite was sent home this week inviting the Junior Room Father’s to a special afternoon of activities on 2nd September at 2pm. The students are looking forward to celebrating the afternoon with their dad’s.

As a school, we are required to work towards improving the attendance of our students.
ATTENDANCE
Congratulations to the following students who have achieved 100% attendance so far this term:
Billie, Hunter and Pippa
Congratulations to the following students who have achieved at or above our school target of 93% attendance so far this term:
Ryder, Sailor and Layla.
At Scaddan Primary School, our goal is to ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve their potential.
Scaddan Primary School will maintain consistently high levels of student attendance with a target of 93% or above. The Department of Education classifies any student below 90% as an attendance risk.
We know that everyday at school contributes to learning, which leads to better engagement and higher academic achievement. This sets students up for life and creates better social and economic outcomes for Western Australian families sand communities.
The School Education Act 1999 requires children of compulsory school age to attend school. When a child is unable to attend, legislation requires that Parents and Carers provide written notification providing a reasonable cause for the absence of the child.
We encourage you to notify the school of any absence via email or by replying to the school messaging system.
