Camps

It is important that our students participate in a range of experiences outside of the classroom where they learn new skills, engage in challenging activities and develop teamwork competency and a level of independence, all in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our students take part in several exciting camps throughout the year. We value the opportunity for them to attend Mallee Swim Camp in Term 3, where our Year 1 – 6 students get the opportunity to attend swimming lessons and participate in a range of activities within Esperance. During Term 2, our 4 – 6 students have the opportunity to attend camps either in Western Australia (Kulin 2019) or Canberra (2020).

Sport

Our students have the opportunity to experience a range of sports throughout the year.

We provide a curriculum which enables the students to participate in sports such as Touch Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee, Athletics, Soccer, Basketball, Softball and Netball.  We also place great emphasis on the teaching of Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS).Our strong partnerships within the local area provide great opportunities for the students; for example, our links with Salmon Gums Primary School have enabled students to combine to partake in Squash, Cricket, Circus Skills and AFL (through the Clontarf Academy). Our students also participate in events in Esperance such as Tennis and the ‘Have a Go’ Day which provides students with sporting taster sessions.

In Term 1, Scaddan Primary School holds its Faction Carnival giving students a chance to take part in individual and team athletic events. We also partake in the Interschool Carnival alongside other Mallee Schools (Munglinup PS, Cascade PS, Salmon Gums PS, Condingup PS) and the Esperance Christian School where our communities come together for friendly competition and the opportunity for students to socialise together.

Assemblies

Our assemblies, which commence at 9.00am, take place around Week 4 and 8 of each term (except in Term 4 which is preparation time for the End of Year Concert).  The Junior and Senior classes alternate in leading the assembly and performing/presenting their work. Assemblies also give us the opportunity to acknowledge our amazing students and to present a number of certificates and prizes. After the assembly, parents have the opportunity to visit classrooms for a ‘Tray Peak’.

Parent, families and community members are always welcome to join us.

At Scaddan Primary School there are events that occur every year.
